Diversity is about understanding each other and moving beyond simple tolerance to embracing and celebrating the many dimensions of diversity contained within each individual. This includes accepting our individual differences of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious belief, political beliefs, or other ideologies.
Inclusion is the active, intentional and ongoing engagement with various dimensions of diversity. Inclusion, similar to diversity moves beyond simple tolerance to making contentious effort to hear the voices, perspectives, and experiences of those who are different. Inclusion also utilizes the diversity among us to build a community and society that reflects everyone who resides, works and recreates within it.
